Step into the heart of one of Singapore’s most vibrant districts – Little India!

We’ll begin our walk at the junction of Hastings Road and Serangoon Road, just beside the iconic Little India Arcade – a favourite starting point for explorers. The nearest MRT station is, of course, Little India. From here, get ready for a colourful journey filled with stories, sights, scents and surprises.

Our trail takes us along the “main street” and its many lively lanes. Expect to see the good, the quirky, and even the not-so-pretty sides of Little India – because every corner has its tale. To understand this neighbourhood, we’ll go back in time, starting in pre-colonial India, moving through the colonial years, and arriving at Singapore’s shores.

Along the way, we’ll learn how the first Indian communities settled here and how this area blossomed into the Little India we know today.

But this is not just history – it’s also about culture and food! Together, we’ll uncover hidden gems and curiosities. For instance: is Fish Head Curry really an Indian dish? Who came up with it, and why is it not exactly “cheap street food”?

We’ll peel back the layers of one of Singapore’s most famous culinary creations and find out together.

The walk ends at Singapore’s legendary “Curry Row”, where the rich aroma of spices fills the air. And just nearby, you’ll spot “Indian Angels” – a new Indian dance hall that adds yet another flavour to this dynamic district.

So, join us for a morning filled with colour, culture and curiosity. By the end, you’ll see Little India in a whole new light – and perhaps find yourself hungry for more!
