Join me, Uncle Chris, on a unique walking tour through Singapore’s historic red-light districts – from Keong Saik Road to Flanders Square. This is not just a walk through time, but a deep dive into the evolution of Singapore’s sex industry, and a respectful look at the lives of those working in it today.
This tour isn’t just about history. We’ll explore the contrast between today’s professional sex workers and the more vulnerable street-based workers. It’s a walk that brings out the realities of marginalised lives, shedding light on both hardship and resilience.
You’ll hear how the first shipload of sex workers arrived in Singapore, and how the industry has evolved into today’s digital age. Along the way, we’ll pass former brothels that have since shut down – and others that have recently reopened, particularly around Petain Road and Flanders Square, known locally as “Kin Chio Kar.”
This is an adult-themed, no-nonsense walk – thought-provoking, informative, and respectful. For the ladies joining us, it’s a rare opportunity to glimpse into a world often misunderstood, right where it unfolds.
The tour begins at the coffee shop at the junction of Neil Road and Keong Saik Road. Please bring your MRT card – we’ll be taking the train to Farrer Park station before continuing on foot. Be prepared for a fairly long walk, so do consider your comfort and fitness level before signing up.

I’ll be having lunch after the tour at 22 Flanders Square, now a Japanese restaurant. This site was once the scene of a tragic, unsolved murder. Coco Ng, a sex worker known in the area, was killed here in 2008. Her case remains open.
So if you’re up for a raw and real look at a side of Singapore many don’t talk about – come along. This is an honest walk, full of stories that deserve to be heard.
