KEONG SAIK, JAPANESE STREET & FLANDERS SQUARE RED-LIGHT DISTRICT WALKING TOUR
Thurs, 13 April 2023
12pm to 2.30pm

Lonely Planet says Keong Saik Road is one of the Top Ten places to visit in Singapore before you go home. Do you agree?

Yours truly, your ole Uncle Chris will attempt to swing you into agreement with this adult walking tour. To add spice to this subject, we’ll do this tour smack in the middle of lunch hour on a working day – Thursday, 13th April 2023.

Lunch hour at Keong Saik is a colourful place. It is an ideal place to have a sip and watch the world rolling by. Imagine what it will be like on an evening at the weekends…

Yes, Keong Saik Road is a happy place in the evening. It was once an infamous Red-Light District, however, the vice industry is now long gone. But its history remains.

On this tour, we’ll delve deep into its history and then, academically bring this street to its current clean-cut status. By the time we are done at Keong Saik, you will be familiar with The Blue Triangle, and also what happened at number 10, Teck Lim Road in 1942.

These are interesting histories which not many people talk about these days. Trengganu Street was once known as Japanese Street – simply because this is the street to come to, when you need the services of a Japanese sex worker.

From here, we’ll take the MRT to Flanders Square, where the sex industry is still very much alive – even in the day! Unknown to many of us, Singapore is one clean-cut, (and very safe) country where you can walk into any brothel and buy sex off the shelf – and at any time.

Note: You can’t buy sex legally, even in a country like Taiwan, Korea or France. But in Singapore, you can, because it is totally legal.

Meet me at the coffee shop in front of Number 1, Keong Saik Road (The Working Capitol), on the 13th April 2023 at 12pm. This is at the junction at Neil Road.

Note: This is an adult walking tour and is not suitable for children/minors. This is also a fairly long walking tour ending at Flanders Square – just beside City Square – formerly The New World Amusement Park, famed for its cabarets and kiddie rides…
