Discover the quiet charm and forgotten stories of Nee Soon Village – a part of Singapore often overlooked, yet rich with history, culture, and character.
For years, many considered this northern corner a sleepy, far-flung outpost. But times have changed. With the arrival of Springleaf MRT, this once laid-back hamlet is buzzing with new life. Trendy eateries are popping up, while long-time establishments like Ngee Fou Ampang Yong Tau Foo – a local favourite for decades – are still holding their own.
I’ve called this place home for much of my life. I’ve seen it when no one believed in the North – when landed homes here couldn’t sell and prices were rock-bottom. But nearly 50 years on, everything has changed. Those same homes are now worth a small fortune, and Springleaf has become a hidden gem on the map.
On this walking tour, I’ll take you through the lanes and stories of old Nee Soon Village – a place where heritage still lingers, and where past and present live side by side. You’ll hear about the people who built their lives here, the humble shops that stood the test of time, and the quiet resilience of a neighbourhood often forgotten.
This is more than just a walk – it’s a homecoming of sorts, and a chance to see a different side of Singapore before it changes even more.
