QUEENSTOWN HERITAGE TRAIL: FORFAR HEIGHTS, DAWSON ROAD & MARGARET DRIVE
Sun, 19th July 2025
9am to 11.30am

Queenstown is Singapore’s very first satellite town, developed by the Singapore Improvement Trust (SIT) to house a growing population. Today, this once-humble neighbourhood is seeing a dramatic transformation – with a recent 5-room flat near Dawson Road fetching an eye-watering $1.7 million!

Join Uncle Chris on a guided walk through this historic yet fast-changing estate. We’ll explore why Queenstown is now one of the city’s most sought-after addresses.

Our journey begins with Margaret Drive, where we’ll admire the bold new HDB skyscrapers that seem to stretch into the clouds. Rumour has it, residents here are already receiving generous offers for their homes. There’s something undeniably charming about Margaret Drive -a warmth that makes it feel like home the moment you arrive.

If the group agrees, we’ll take the lift up to one of the highest floors for a breathtaking bird’s-eye view. You’ll see why so many are drawn to live here – the landscape, the air, and yes, even the property prices will leave you in awe.

From there, we’ll take a short walk to nearby Ridout and Pierce Roads ‒ a completely different world of quiet luxury. Here, we’ll uncover the history behind Singapore’s iconic Black & White bungalows and other colonial-era homes. Nestled among lush greenery, these grand residences speak of a time gone by, yet still radiate elegance and exclusivity today.

Whether it’s a modest HDB flat or a grand colonial bungalow, Queenstown has a unique charm that continues to evolve while holding on to its rich heritage.

We meet at 9:00am sharp at Queenstown MRT station. Please take Exit B on your left, go downstairs, and gather at Taxi Stand F44. Look out for me ‒ I’ll be wearing my Tourist Guide badge.

The tour will conclude near the junction of Holland Road and Pierce Road, by around 11:30am or 12:00pm.

Come curious. Leave inspired. This is not just a walk through Queenstown ‒ it’s a journey through time, space, and Singapore’s ever-changing landscape.
