With the opening of Springleaf MRT, Nee Soon Village has begun to stir from its slumber. New eateries are springing up across the neighbourhood, breathing life into this quiet corner of Singapore. Yet, side by side with the new, the old still stands strong.

We’ll visit time-honoured favourites like Ngee Fou Ampang Yong Tau Foo, a family-run spot that’s been serving locals for decades. They were ‒ and still are ‒ my neighbours. Their story, like many here, is one of patience, perseverance, and pride.

In the 1970s, the landed homes around Springleaf were so undervalued they couldn’t be sold. Nobody believed the North had a future. But today, those very same homes are worth a small fortune. What a turnaround!

This walking tour is more than a stroll ‒ it’s a step back in time to a place where kampong spirit still lingers. Discover the history, culture and quiet charm of Nee Soon Village before it changes for good.

We meet at Springleaf MRT (Exit 2) at 9:00am sharp on Saturday, 26 July 2025. The tour will end back at the same station by around 11:30am, just before the lunch crowds roll in.
