Queenstown is one of our oldest residential estates built by SIT (Singapore Improvement Trust). It was an attempt to house the burgeoning population. Today, the landscape at Queenstown is fast changing.
In recent history, a 5 room HDB flat, just next to Dawson Road, sold for a staggering $1.7 million! On our tour, we’ll try and explore why this is happening at Queenstown.
The route will take us through some parts of Margaret Drive. Along the way, we’ll ogle at the new death-defying skyscrapers built by our very own HDB (Housing Development Board). It is rumored that many of those living at these flats are already being offered generous offers when it is time to resell.
It is no secret that Margaret Drive has a magical spell that augurs a comely homey air in its midst. If all agree, we’ll deviate and take the lift up to the highest floor for a bird’s eye view of the real estate around here.
You will agree, the entire neighbourhood will cuddle you like a baby. From here, we’ll take a little hike across to Ridout Road – and see (and feel) another kind of exclusivity. Unlike the skyscrapers of Margaret Drive, Ridout Road (and Pierce Road too), just next door, exudes another world of aura – one of serenity and privacy.
We’ll trace the history and heritage of the Black & White mansions and other bungalows. This is another walking tour along some of Singapore’s most coveted real estate – HDB or otherwise. Even a small HBD flat has its prize, and price!
We meet on Sat, 7th Feb 2026, 9am at Queenstown MRT. Upon alighting at Queenstown MRT, take Exit B to your left, go downstairs and meet me at Taxi Stand, F44. You can recognise me with my Tourist Guide badge. This tour will end at the junction of Holland Road and Pierce Road.
